Rotating / Reina / Gerrard

30 Sept 2006 Bolton 2-0 Liverpool - EPL

BBC - Bolton outmuscled Liverpool to inflict a third consecutive away league defeat on Rafael Benitez's side. Sam Allardyce's team went ahead with a disputed goal after Jose Reina was wrongfully penalised for handball. Playing his 750th league game, Gary Speed inflicted maximum punishment on Liverpool as he arrowed in a free-kick. Bolton extended their lead when Ivan Campo thumped a header against the bar and over the line from Kevin Davies' cross early in the second half.

I wonder....
1. Rotating - right or wrong?
2. Reina - drop or not?

3. Gerrard - left, centre, or right?

1) A settled defence is key for me - and you never drop a scoring striker and should only preserve with a mis-firing one for 3 games max - so times up Craig, bench and bring back fowler.

2) he's at fault for that free kick regardless of the fact it shouldn't of been given - the Turks nearly got back to 3-3 mid-week, the mistake at Everton - and pre-season was a mess - so I know he's not a bad keeper over one summer - but when someone keeps playing below par you bring in the guy waiting in the wings and the guy who gets dropped ups his game to get back in - too bad kirkland and carson are on loan though - as a below par reina is better than Dudek.

So I say stick.

3) Centre and going forward - at Anfield only and on the right when not. Sissoko centre away from home.

fair enough Spo.

Crouch should get the chance to start as well i think. he's not that kind of player scores goals coming out from bench.

agreed, Reina is better than Dudek. Carson has been great in Charlton btw. awww...come back Reina!!!

so...does that mean Anfield crowds will never see Sissoko!lol

Sissoko, Alonso, Gerrard are simply too good to be dropped. quite a dilemma here. but i think your 'home and away' theory is clever.

Spo when is your next time to Anfield? can i go with you?

1) Right, but not too much changes I think. Max 2-3 changes for each game seemed plausible.

2) Don't drop Reina just yet. Dropping him now might do great harm to his confidence and who knows when will he recover from it.

3) Right, if Sissoko and Alonso are playing. Central if he's pairing with Sissoko. Gerrard and Alonso won't work..it's a fact..

cheers!

Hey Amy - I need to get a supply on tickets - I've got family from round the way that I will see when I am back in October and then will see about getting them to try and get hold of some for me

If saints were still premiership then I could get some via my dad who still goes there - but they are championship bound at the mo.

The prob is Anfield is a sell out season ticket wise - and on the door is a gamble travelling all that way plus touting is possible but you are looking at 60-80 quid min I think.

Suffice to say - next time I go I'll definitely see about getting a ticket for you as well.

We've got tea buyers in liverpool and I know a few of them go to each home game so maybe I can have a word there too.

I'll let you know when I am back in october - I haven't been since the last time saints were up there about 2yrs ago - working abroad all this time and not having the contacts

however, If you ever want to go to Feyenoord over in Holland that is no problem!

is it eaier to get match tickets if i'm e-season ticket holder on liverpoolfc.tv?

well, i have no idea about the whole thing, but i know i'll be regret if i go back to Taiwan without at least going to Liverpool.

i got a week off from 23 Oct, and initially i was planning to have a trip there. but my friend can't make it, and also it needs time to make a good plan including transportation, hotels, etc.

So, i just gave up and tried to move it to X'mas holiday, well, hopefully. i'm still thinkinig about it though. the main problem is that my friend isn't a fan, and i don't want her to spent a lot of money and not having a good time.

that's why i thought about you! to be honest, even though i'm now up in Newcastle, going to Liverpool is still like traveling to another country for me. lol

anyways, thank you Spo. if we do make it, it would be so great! (Holland, defintely a place that i'll go after my course is finished here!)

That's a big disappointment, but then again it happens.
