Birmingham 2-2 Liverpool

BBC - Mikael Forssell lashed in a shot at the far post to put the Blues ahead, with Sebastian Larsson's exquisite long range free-kick adding to their lead. But Peter Crouch guided in a shot to haul the Reds back into the game. And as Liverpool penned the Blues back, Yossi Benayoun equalised with a deflected header, which all-but secures fourth spot for the Anfield side.

I Can't Believe This...

BBC - John Arne Riise's injury-time own goal gave Chelsea the advantage in their Champions League semi-final - Dirk Kuyt's close-range finish three minutes before the interval looked to have secured Liverpool a slender lead. And it took fine saves from Petr Cech to deny Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres as Liverpool threatened to put the tie out of Chelsea's reach. But Riise headed in Salomon Kalou's cross five minutes into injury time to give Chelsea a priceless away goal.

Fulham 0-2 Liverpool

Torres Scored The 30th of The Season

BBC - Steven Gerrard, who had a penalty appeal turned down after he was clipped by Brad Friedel, broke the deadlock with a cool finish in the second half. Torres met Gerrard's deep cross with a precise header to make it 2-0 before Andrei Voronin slid home a third. Roque Santa Cruz hooked in a late reply for Blackburn, who were well beaten.

WHAT A GAME!

BBC - Liverpool set up another Champions League semi-final with Chelsea after a stunning late win over Arsenal - Abou Diaby put Arsenal into an early lead but Sami Hyypia lost Phillipe Senderos to head an equaliser. Fernando Torres looked to have settled it when he scored in the top corner, until a superb Theo Walcott run allowed Emmanuel Adebayor to tap in. But Kolo Toure fouled Ryan Babel and Gerrard held his nerve from the spot, before Babel broke to add a fourth.

I was still shaking and felt I could hardly stand after fulltime..... The last 10 minutes of the game almost killed me. What a game, what a drama! Credits to Arsenal, honestly. I don't usually say it to other teams but Arsenal is a really good side. I thought we used up all the luck in the first leg. Anyway, sorry Arsenal and thank you, I enjoyed the last three games, let's move on. Chelsea next for Liverpool, bring it on!! All the best to Arsenal for their title race.

Lucky Reds Levelled At Half Time

BBC - Emmanuel Adebayor headed Arsenal in front in powerful fashion from Robin van Persie's cross after 23 minutes. Arsenal's lead lasted only three minutes before Steven Gerrard set up Dirk Kuyt to score from close range. The Gunners had a clear penalty appeal turned down after the break when Kuyt hauled back Alexander Hleb in the area.

How did we get away with a bad performance like this?? Of course I am happy with the result - a draw, an away goal, but it was a horrible display. Giving the ball away too much and looking like lazy! That's face it, we were lucky with the penalty decision and the shot by Fabregas cleared by Bendtner! Arsenal should have scored 2 or 3 at the night.
What was going on? Were they too tired after the derby on Sunday?? We certainly need a much better performance back to Anfield. It's only half time. Advantage to Liverpool? No, I don't think so. Arsenal have a good record playing at Anfield recently. If we don't come out and win it, it could easily be a nightmare for us.

El Nino Wins Us Derby

BBC - Liverpool strengthened their grip on fourth place after Fernando Torres' 28th goal of the season gave them victory in the Merseyside derby - The Spaniard expertly slotted the ball beyond Tim Howard for the only goal of the game after just seven minutes. With Yakubu deployed as a lone striker Everton created very little, while Liverpool spurned several chances. A rasping Steven Gerrard volley hit the post, while Everton's best chance fell to Leon Osman who headed wide.
Torres: "I always feel confident that I can score at Anfield. I've got 19 Premier League goals here now which is fantastic for me, and I seem to score most of those in front of the Kop! I don't know why that is, but I'm always scoring at that end. It must be something about the stand, it is just different. I think 15 of those 19 goals have come in front of the Kop, and I always feel confident when I'm facing that end of the pitch."
Rafa: "I think Torres has more or less surprised everyone. We knew that he was a fantastic player and that he could score goals, but to score 28 in your first season isn't easy, especially for a foreign player. He is one of the best strikers in Europe and the understanding he has with Steven Gerrard is key for us. Also with Kuyt and Babel going forward the team has more balance and is creating chances."
Hyypia: "It's not over until May 11. We need to make sure we get enough points to be in that fourth spot until May 11. Of course it's sweet. Derby games are always different. I know what it means to all the fans, so now all the Liverpool fans, players and staff can be happy. I think it was a fair result. We had the game under control. It's a pity we didn't score more than one goal but one goal is enough. We didn't give them many chances and it was comfortable. The Man Utd loss brought us down a little bit but we still had the confidence to go into this game. We had the opportunity to go five points clear of Everton, so from that point of view the win is very important."

Masch Sent Off As Reds Lost At OT

BBC - Wes Brown put United ahead from Wayne Rooney's cross before Liverpool's hopes were hit when Javier Mascherano was sent off for dissent before the break. Pepe Reina made some great saves but he was at fault when Cristiano Ronaldo headed home United's second and Nani's fine finish completed an emphatic win.
Rafa: "It's clear Mascherano made a mistake but he was only asking the referee a question. Ryan Babel was there and saw that he was just asking. I do not think that to ask is a big problem in the end. Maybe Javier does not know the referees. If you want to win you must have passion in a big game, and sometimes you make mistakes, but he was only asking the referee about a bad tackle. I have talked to him and he knows it was a mistake."
"The referee decided to give a second yellow and he couldn't understand. He was as surprised as me. I could speak to him in Spanish, so I said, 'Listen, it's finished.' He is a very good professional who has played a lot of international games all around the world, and he couldn't understand why he was sent off for just asking. It's difficult to explain some things that happen on the pitch and I think it is perhaps better to not say too much this time."
"We haven't had too many problems with referees in the last three or four years. I can see other teams but not ours. Tell me in which game over the last four years you've seen our players go at referees? We have a lot of respect for referees."

Masch Scores First As El Nino Reaches 20

Rafa: "We know that Mascherano has a good shot on him and we've been encouraging him to shoot more when he sees the target. Fernando Torres scored another crucial goal, but he's scoring lots of goals thanks to his team-mates."

Italian Champions Who?

BBC - Liverpool became the fourth English side to reach the Champions League quarter-finals with victory against Inter Milan at the San Siro - Fernando Torres scored brilliantly on the turn after 64 minutes to give Liverpool a comfortable aggregate win. Inter, who had Nicolas Burdisso sent off for a foul on Lucas Leiva after 50 minutes, wasted several chances. Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina twice saved from Julio Cruz, who also shot wide when clean through in the first half.

Two Men Show

BBC - The Reds went ahead with a bizarre goal, Jose Enrique's clearance hitting Jermaine Pennant and looping in. Fernando Torres struck his 25th goal of the season by slotting home from a Gerrard pass, before he sent Gerrard through for the captain to wrap it up. Newcastle's best effort saw Obafemi Martins hit the bar from 40 yards.
Rafa: "Both Torres and Gerrard are playing well and that is important for us. If they have the space, with the quality and pace they have, they can kill defenders. Torres' goal was really good, Gerrard and Torres have a really good understanding and the goal came at a crucial time because it almost killed the game off. That helped us play with more confidence in the second half.
