Fernando Torres looked to have settled it when he scored in the top corner, until a superb Theo Walcott run allowed Emmanuel Adebayor to tap in. But Kolo Toure fouled Ryan Babel and Gerrard held his nerve from the spot, before Babel broke to add a fourth.

I was still shaking and felt I could hardly stand after fulltime..... The last 10 minutes of the game almost killed me. What a game, what a drama! Credits to Arsenal, honestly. I don't usually say it to other teams but Arsenal is a really good side. I thought we used up all the luck in the first leg. The Gunners had a clear penalty appeal turned down after the break when Kuyt hauled back Alexander Hleb in the area.

How did we get away with a bad performance like this?? Of course I am happy with the result - a draw, an away goal, but it was a horrible display. Giving the ball away too much and looking like lazy! That's face it, we were lucky with the penalty decision and the shot by Fabregas cleared by Bendtner! Arsenal should have scored 2 or 3 at the night.

What was going on? Were they too tired after the derby on Sunday?? We certainly need a much better performance back to Anfield. It's only half time. Advantage to Liverpool? No, I don't think so. Arsenal have a good record playing at Anfield recently. If we don't come out and win it, it could easily be a nightmare for us.

With Yakubu deployed as a lone striker Everton created very little, while Liverpool spurned several chances. A rasping Steven Gerrard volley hit the post, while Everton's best chance fell to Leon Osman who headed wide.

Torres: "I always feel confident that I can score at Anfield. I've got 19 Premier League goals here now which is fantastic for me, and I seem to score most of those in front of the Kop! I don't know why that is, but I'm always scoring at that end. It must be something about the stand, it is just different. I think 15 of those 19 goals have come in front of the Kop, and I always feel confident when I'm facing that end of the pitch."

Rafa: "I think Torres has more or less surprised everyone. We knew that he was a fantastic player and that he could score goals, but to score 28 in your first season isn't easy, especially for a foreign player. He is one of the best strikers in Europe and the understanding he has with Steven Gerrard is key for us. Also with Kuyt and Babel going forward the team has more balance and is creating chances."

Rafa: "It's clear Mascherano made a mistake but he was only asking the referee a question. Ryan Babel was there and saw that he was just asking. I do not think that to ask is a big problem in the end. Maybe Javier does not know the referees. If you want to win you must have passion in a big game, and sometimes you make mistakes, but he was only asking the referee about a bad tackle. I have talked to him and he knows it was a mistake."

"The referee decided to give a second yellow and he couldn't understand. He was as surprised as me. I could speak to him in Spanish, so I said, 'Listen, it's finished.' He is a very good professional who has played a lot of international games all around the world, and he couldn't understand why he was sent off for just asking. It's difficult to explain some things that happen on the pitch and I think it is perhaps better to not say too much this time."

When you talk to Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher they say what a great player Michael is, and they wanted him, because he is a great finisher and a good striker. 2. He has already had a taste of what it means to play football on Merseyside having featured for former club Zenit St Petersberg in a 1-0 UEFA cup defeat against Everton on December 5, 2007.

3. At the age of 23 Martin is already an established international with Slovakia. He has 15 caps to-date and scored his first and only goal for his country in a Euro 2008 Qualifier when he netted the opener in a 6-1 win at home to Cyprus.

4. A move to Liverpool has left him so excited he has had trouble sleeping. He said: "I have realised that in all likelihood a new era of my life is beginning. I struggled to get any sleep on Saturday night, and I normally have no problems sleeping."

5. The 6ft 4 defender came second in the list of the best football players named by Slovak Football Union and newspaper 'Pravda' in December 2006.

James Harper scored a fine third and Reading, with the help of the post, kept the Reds at bay for the remainder.

Is it just me? I don't blame Rafa for his selection or changes for this game. I know it's a strange startinig line-up as well as the formation, but...we've got a Champions League game in the midweek which we can't afford losing, and five days later, bloody Man Utd at home, and then away to Chelsea three days after!! We certainly need to rest some key players. Is it too early for Hobbs? No. Don't you think it is a good idea resting Hyypia for the next two really important games? We wouldn't want Hobbs to come in for either Marseille or Man Utd game do we? And to replace Torres, Gerrard or Carra, why not? I was really worried seeing Torres went down, and I believe Rafa was too. I honestly don't want to be out of Champions League or Carling Cup or losing to the Mancs at home for 3 Premierleage points against Reading where the ref was being a jerk and the cross-bars went funny with us.

Carra on Torres: "He is a world-class striker and he's probably up there with anyone now in striking terms. I only have to mark him in training, thankfully. It's raw pace and strength that he's got and that will cause defences problems. It was a big relief when he got the second goal because when it's 1-1 anything can happen. It was a great goal by Fernando, showing what a top player he is. It was a great performance from him. He's been outstanding all season but he's done it in the Champions League and in a big pressure game like that. He looks like becoming the 20-goal a season striker we've been crying out for but it's not just that, it's the work he puts in. He puts himself about and I think people appreciate the graft he puts in. Even if he doesn't score he makes it really tough for defenders. BBC - Rovers should have been in front by the interval after twice hitting the woodwork through David Bentley's effort and David Dunn's wonderful shot. The game was more even in the second half, and both Christopher Samba and Dirk Kuyt could have done better for the visitors in promising positions. Late on Brad Friedel twice saved Steven Gerrard shots, Peter Crouch went close with a header and Kuyt missed badly.

Don't you just feel we were a totally different class from the earlier game yesterday: Arsenal vs Man Utd? I enjoyed watching them if I'm being honest with you. They play really good football at the moment and if we want to be competitive we've got to improve our level. We looked average..or even worse.

I started my first full-time job last month at a language centre here in Taiwan and things are going ok for me. I'm still planning to go back to England someday for another degree but it's not that easy as it used to be. Just wanna tell you that the blog is taking a break (well actually it has been for so long already), but I will be back..erm hopefully when the new season begins. I am currently trying to enjoy the last month staying at Newcastle, which is hard because I love it here so much. It's hard to depart those memories but I'm glad it's all happened, and I'm proud to say that I made my dream come true. Remember two years ago I was making all the efforts to come here, the joy when I passed the exams, the braveness leaving home for the first time, and then the wonderful one year living here...

First of all, I'm glad to see Owen playing again for England. He looked ok for me and all he needs is time. I'm positive he can come back as a good goal scorer. And as for Beckham's return, I think you have to give credits for his attitudes. I admire him for being professional and turn things around. Both England and Real Madrid manager had to call him back to the team, and you can't say that it's just a conincdent. And again, Gerrard was the star man for England. I don't like him playing at the holding role - thought that's a waste of his attacking force but he wouldn't let you down playing any position in the team apart from in goal I guess. Centre-back Robbie Threlfall, who scored an own goal which let United back into the first leg 10 days ago, went from zero to hero by netting the only goal in normal time and a decisive penalty.

What a comeback! But I would be sick if Man U won it because they got too lucky in the first leg. (an own goal and a penalty??) We definitely were the better side during two legs. Some players just looked so talented and they got potential to break into the first team. Raymond Putterill and Craig Lindfield stood out to me. Well done, young lads! Now we hope our first team can do the same to turn around the first leg result next Tuesday.

BBC - Joe Cole's first-half goal gave Chelsea a narrow victory in their Champions League semi-final first-leg clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. Cole slid in Didier Drogba's cross after 29 minutes to give Jose Mourinho's side the upper hand. Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina produced two brilliant saves from Frank Lampard to keep the tie in the balance. Petr Cech denied Liverpool an away goal with a stunning second-half stop from Steven Gerrard's long-range volley.

1. Bellamy? If I remember right, he hasn't played much recently?
2. Zenden??? Has he really performed since he came to Liverpool? And put him on in this kind of game?
3. Gerrard on the right? Where's the on-form Pennant? Mascherano and Alonso in the middle is fine. Then why not move Gerrard upfront to support Kuyt or Crouchy?
4. Can't complain about playing Arbeloa on the right-back since Finnan is out with injury. However, Arbeloa's performance tonight just prove that we miss StevieF there.

Well..maybe everything could be sorted out if Finnan was fit, because Rafa would probably play Arbeloa on the left-back and push Riise forward. But since Finnan was out, he could only choose from Zenden and Gonzalez. Watching Gonzalez played full 90 minutes last Saturday against Wigan, I don't think he would make big differences tonight. Zenden on the other hand is better in defence and got more experiences. Having thought about that, I think I can understand why Rafa started him, though I still think he's not good enough. We certainly miss players like Garcia, Kewell and Aurelio, don't we?

I would love to see Pennant starts next week, with Gerrard either in the centre of midfield or supporting lone striker which Crouchy should be given the chance. Riise on the left wing, with Finnan back in the squad and Arbeloa on the left-back. Well...I believe we need something special because Chelsea is hard to break down. I can't share the comments that fans saying they're not worried at all. I do. I'm worried and nervous. I want to prepare myself that Liverpool could be knocked out next week, though I know it's only half time and we're still alive in the tie. The disappointment of losing the first leg just hit me so badly because I was too confident and because I was expecting a result like we had in Nou Camp. Now that if we're on the way to Athens, it would be a bonus to me, and if we don't, well at least I've already prepared for it. With the Kop behind us at Anfield, I do believe we have chances to go through. Gerrard could be the key man again, but as long as he got supports from other players on the pitch. All the best, my mighty Reds.

Stevie: "The mood wasn't downbeat in the dressing room after the game. It's still game on. If we score first at Anfield, we could be in for a very good second leg. I think Chelsea were happy with the result, but I think they will still show us a lot of respect in the second leg. They know the tie isn't over yet and they've witnessed the atmosphere at Anfield before. They know that we're capable of beating them at Anfield - as we proved in the Premiership earlier this year. It's only half-time. We would have liked a better scoreline going back to Anfield but we're one down and we'll get on with it. We'll approach the game knowing that we need to score the first goal and we'll be ready for Tuesday night. We're confident we can hurt them a lot more at our place with the crowd behind us. We'll raise the tempo and the first 20 minutes will be really interesting next week. If any supporters can raise the roof, it's our supporters, so I think we could be in store for another memorable European night."

18th Hillsborough Memorial Service

Alright, sorry about the delay, being lazy to post. I was at the 18th Hillsborough Memorial Service at Anfield this Sunday. (There is no need to explain what happened in Hillsborough 18 years ago I guess?) Anyway, it was a really moving memorial service. I have to confess that as I saw the information on the official site that there would be reading by Carragher and Dalglish, I thought why not go and maybe I can see some players. It was totally not the case as I walked into the ground.

The story begins with that I got lost outside Anfield...again. Well, since I live in Newcastle, it takes me 5 hours on the coach to Liverpool and I have to change at Leeds. Anyway, I was waiting at the wrong stand so I missed the coach. So I was one hour late arriving Liverpool than I original planed. Being a little bit panic, I got onto a bus that I wasn't sure if it stopped by Anfield, though the driver confirmed. What happened was I got off the bus with many Everton fans at Goodison Park! lol So I walked passed a lot of blue fans who were heading for the game against Charlton and after about 15-20 minutes I finally saw Anfield. Couldn't believe it was my forth time there, and I still got lost!!

Fortunately I was just in time for the service but the thing was people were already sitting on the seats and as I walked through the entry to the Kop. I was frightened. Jesus, it was so quiet and I saw Peter Crouch was just on the seat near the entry. I didn't stare at him because I just wanted to quickly find a seat to sit down at that point. It made me nervous standing in front of people. And that was it. The service began and I felt not right taking out my camera. People around me were weeping and I found it hard caring about whether I see players or not or if I take any photo when Carra was reading. I just felt moved, especially when people were singing You'll Never Walk Alone. You could feel power from that sound that people really sticked together to remember the 96 and how much they seek the justice as they chanted.

I'm not a scouser, not even English, but I'm a Liverpool FC supporter, just like those who lost their lives 18 years ago. I think that's enough. I was exhausted spendinig one hour at Anfield but the most rest of the day on the coach, but I'm so glad I was involved. 96 has gone but shall not be forgotten, and we'll never give up for the justice.

Paul looked at all the tributes, the flowers, the scarves and said: 'Why did it have to happen to us?' Kelly, Paul and I stood at the back of the Kop with tears falling down our faces. Walking through the Kop was so emotional. Finally with the recent massacre happened at Virginia Tech University, let us pray for the innocent lives that had lost. I got a mixed feeling after seeing the news because I just came back from the Hillsborough memorial service. On one hand people showing love and generosity to strangers but on the other hand, people being selfish killing innocent ones without reasons. I feel sad but I hope people would still believe in love and humanity. My thoughts go to families and may those who lost their lives RIP.

BBC - The Reds led 3-0 from the first leg and PSV's lack of adventure meant their progression was never in doubt. Reds keeper Jose Reina did have to make two smart saves from Jefferson Farfan. But PSV had Dirk Marcellis sent off for a foul on Bolo Zenden before Crouch tapped in Robbie Fowler's cross to give Liverpool a 1-0 victory on the night.

I don't want to be picky...but, I couldn't hide my disappointment that we didn't score more tonight. And I would say it's something to do with Man Utd's 7-1 win yesterday. I saw someone on the streets today wearing Man Utd's shirt and I just thought...so what, we're going to beat PSV tonight with style! The only excuse I think of for tonight's performance is that..the lads didn't want to risk as they saw how Bellamy went down. But looking at PSV, you just couldn't help wondering..how the hell they knocked out Arsenal!? They were hopeless in two legs. Okay, Gerrard and Carra weren't playing tonight, but we still got a big squad with qualities like Crouchy, Fowler, Xabi, Pennant, Riise.. So why we couldn't deliver? With Chelsea coming next, I believe the fans want to see a big performance. I got some friends saying they're worried facing Chelsea. Who don't? Even those who say..'bring on Chelsea, we're going to do them again!' Anything can happen when you're in a bad day no matter who you are. Sometimes you just need a bit of luck to win football. So everyone should be worried, but what else can you do? Just believe in our players and Rafa and show our supports all the way. Come on you Reds!! Sky Sports - Dirk Kuyt's late goal gave Liverpool a hard-fought 2-1 win over Reading in their first ever visit to The Madejski Stadium. The Dutchman popped up four minutes from time to grab the winner and end his goal drought after going eight games without a goal. a goal. Alvaro Arbeloa gave Liverpool a first-half lead with his first goal for the club, but Brynjar Gunnarsson drew Reading level early in the second half before Kuyt secured the points for Liverpool late on.

It's once again proved that starting Mascherano and Momo in the centre is a bad idea, isn't it. Momo had a terrible game today I think apart from a pass to Gerrard (or Kuyt?) around the box. It wan't a good performance for us but glad we got the whole three points. Two subs Kuyt and Pennant saved our day. By the way, Chelsea win, Man U and Arsenal both lost. What a results! I'm backing Chelsea to win the title this time, but European cup is still ours.

BBC - Steven Gerrard thumped in a header from Steve Finnan's cross to put the Reds ahead and become Liverpool's leading scorer in European Cup competition. PSV were ripe for the taking and the Reds showed no mercy as John Arne Riise thundered in a long-range strike. Peter Crouch put the gloss on the win when he nodded in another Finnan cross.

Stevie: "There's still work to be done in this tie and we have to make sure we're professional at Anfield next week and finish the job off. There's still 90 minutes to play. If we do that then we can think about playing Chelsea or Valencia, but not yet. It was a good performance from us tonight. We were solid and hard to break down. Once we got the first goal we knew what we wanted to do and we did it well."

Crouchy: "The idea was not to concede and try to score an away goal. To score three was better than we'd planned for. To win 3-0 away anywhere in Europe is a great result and we're all delighted."

Anyone noticed that when Gerrard and Crouchy were interviewed after the game.... They both didn't shave beard!?? I guess that was a little superstition between the lads, huh? But it works anyway! Although not a perfect performance (a perfect results though) but it's enough to beat poor PSV. By the way, what happened to Aurelio?? What was that!? It's actually creepy to me because it was as if someone's behind him! Best wishes to him as you can see he was gutted. I think he cried on the stretcher.... Really unlucky, I just started to trust him a little bit more recently. Get well soon! And, unsung hero remains unsung.... two perfect crosses by Stevie Finnan today! Well done! Oh, before I forget to mention, does anyone like me think Kuyt was delibrately got booked in the added time?? Clever.

Stevie: "Everyone can see there's a big difference to how we're playing now compared to when we last played in Eindhoven. We were more inconsistent as a team when we met them last time and had a lot of big players who weren't on form. If you look at us now, all the big names are performing well, whether it's Carragher, Reina or Alonso. It's the same for me. I was really frustrated at the beginning of the season because I was lacking energy in my game and felt lethargic physically and mentally. But since Christmas I've been feeling everything coming back. I'm training better and hopefully peaking at the right time because there are so many big games around the corner. We're all getting those feelings again as we did two years ago, but we're also telling ourselves to slow down. There's still a lot of work to do before we can think about Athens."

BBC - Steve McClaren's side drew a blank once more, and it was another lifeless performance from England. Israel keeper Dudu Aouate twice saved well from Frank Lampard, with Jamie Carragher heading against the bar and Andrew Johnson just off target. Teenage striker Toto Tamuz posed a threat for Israel, forcing Paul Robinson into a save and heading wide. It was hardly surprising that some of the 4,000 England fans in the stadium chanted 'What a load of rubbish' in the closing stages of the bore draw.

If you want Gerrard to do what he does for Liverpool for England, build a team around him. If you want to play him on the right, give him the ball there! For the first 30 minutes of the game, how many times Gerrard got the ball on the right?? Phil Neville, damn Phil Neville never ever passes the ball to Gerrard. Seriously, I've been watching him! Why Lennon made impact in the first half? Because Carragher was helping him, and that's a full-back should do! You need to play wide and Gerrard couldn't get the ball on the right! Him and Neville were not working together! And after 30 minutes you saw Gerrard moving to the centre a lot to get the ball, and produced many great crosses or passes from everywhere of the pitch. I'm saying this not because I'm a Liverpool fan. But it's obvious, that's how it works the best for him, a free role! That's why McClaren put Richards on for Neville. Gerrard was given a free role and we need a right-back can go forward more to strength the right midfield. But is it the best way? Why not drop Lampard and play Gerrard in the centre in the first place?? And then we can play Lennon on the right where he has done a great job for spurs!

What's England now lack is a key man I think. Look at those players! Lampard is a key for Chelsea's attack, as Gerrard for Liverpool. No need to say what Johnson and Rooney mean for their clubs. But who is the key man when you think of England? You'll probably say, well..England...great team, they got Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Terry.......all good players. Right, no one stands out. That's the problem! When I look at England recently, it's like players are waiting! Waiting for someone to perform! No one stand up and give it a go! The team needs a player that leads the lads and build a team around him! Rooney could be the man, but he's not playing well at the moment. Terry is the captain but he's a defender, the imapct he can bring to attack is limited. Lampard haven't really performed for England yet. Though it is probably biased as I'm Liverpool fan, but Gerrard is the man for me to be England's key player.

On the other hand, I'm glad Carragher did well today. As said before the game, in Kenny Dalglish's column of this week's LFC magazine, 'He is a vital player for Liverpool and could be for England. Wherever he plays he is always going to do a job and will never let you down.' He almost scored today by the way, apart from hitting the bar.

"At the final whistle, some of the England players walked towards their supporters because if they had not they would have been criticised. But the players quickly realised it was pointless because they were going to be met by a shower of abuse. They turned and walked away with their heads down and you would have thought they had lost 3-0 or 4-0 the way they walked off.
The reaction from the England fans was what you would expect. It was very disappointing and I am very surprised at the way England have approached the game. Generally speaking there has been a lack of oomph, of get-up-and-go. There has been a lack of sharpness of passing and the desire to get hold of the game by the scruff of the neck. It has just not been there. They didn't have the pace, they didn't have the power and they didn't get hold of the game from the very first minute. Things were obviously said at half-time and they were able to dominate more of the second half against a tiring Israeli side, but they never really opened up the Israel team and they never created sufficient chances.
The only one I would excuse is Steven Gerrard because I think he tried to make the best of the role he was given and was involved with England's best passing moments. Anything worthwhile from England, Gerrard was involved in most of it. But the performance generally has been very poor. It's a nil-nil draw but a very, very disappointing performance."

BBC - Aston Villa and Liverpool fought out a dull deadlock in a defence-dominated encounter at Villa Park. Villa, though, were left feeling sore at referee Lee Mason's refusal to give a penalty when Stilian Petrov had his heel clipped in the box.
In a game of few chances, Liverpool substitute Robbie Fowler saw a header saved by Thomas Sorensen late on.

Erm...poor game wasn't it. Pennant and Fowler should have came on earlier. And starting Mascherano and Sissoko in the centre of midfield was a strange one. Players looked a little bit lazy. Would it be better if we still in the FA Cup that kept us busy and concentrated? Like Rafa said, the only positive was one point. Both Bolton and Arsenal lost this week which seem to make one point 'acceptable'. No way, I say, Liverpool have to keep wining! The performance today turned out to be worrying. I'd rather to see us creating chances. Arsenal next. Well..I didn't get the ticket of that game. The online system kept busy when it started to work and within hours it was sold out. Not a chance for me. Anyway, before that, Euro 2008 qualifiers will take place. Good luck to two scousers Stevie and Jamie in England shirts and other international players!

Erm...wouldn't say it's an easy draw. But shouldn't it be like Chelsea or Milan that people would write us off all the way, and then we beat all the odds again to win the title?? I hate playing against underdogs, you know what I mean? That reminds of me Benfica last season, which is still hurting. Chelsea against Valencia should be a good one. Valencia is quite strong at the moment I think, and I'm not sure which I prefer to play against in the semi - whether Chelsea or Valencia. Anyway, bring on PSV, it would be another two wonderful European football nights! Come on you Reds!

BBC - Eidur Gudjohnsen's late goal left Liverpool hanging on against Barcelona before reaching the last eight of the Champions League on away goals. The former Chelsea star rounded Pepe Reina after 75 minutes to leave Liverpool, who had dominated, living on their nerves in the closing stages. John Arne Riise and Momo Sissoko both struck the bar as Liverpool left Barcelona's stars in the shade. Ronaldinho hit a post, but Liverpool deserved to reach the quarter-final.

Carra: "The club's got a great history in Europe but besides winning finals this is probably the biggest result in Europe we've ever had. Barcelona are the best club side in the world, even though we've knocked them out. We were hanging on - with 10-12 minutes to go we were just praying for the whistle. We didn't realise until a few seconds after the blew it that he had - we got there in the end."

Stevie: "We were unlucky not to go in at half-time ahead. Barcelona are so good going forward, they play such nice football, but we stuck in there and are in the last eight now. We've got great spirit, grit and determination - people were throwing bodies about and that's one of the reasons we're through. It gives us great confidence, going through against the best side in Europe over two legs."

Stevie on Carra: "Over the two legs, Carra has been phenomenal. Maybe there are a few outside Liverpool who are surprised by how good he's been, but it's no surprise to me or anyone else who has seen him just get better and better every season. I look around at the defenders across Europe and the rest of the world, and I really don't see anyone who's better than him. I definitely wouldn't swap him for anyone. I also know the England manager was in the crowd last night, and after seeing a performance like that, it's going to make his next team selection very interesting. But as well as Carra, I think all the lads deserve credit for the way we got through. Daniel Agger is an unbelievable talent for his age, Steve Finnan was magnificent in both games and Alvaro Arbeloa has come into the side and done a great job straight away."

Stevie on Rafa: "We all have total respect and confidence in Rafa Benitez. He has shown he is one of the best managers in the world, and he shows it with the tactics he uses in Europe. We always trust him to get it right, and he did it again this time. We feel we've put a marker down. We've beaten the best team in Europe over two legs."

Xabi: "We have to take it step by step and be realistic. In the quarter-finals we are going to meet a tough team and we don't want to look too far. We have respect for all the teams, but we are not scared of anyone."

Bellamy: "It was an amazing occasion and the biggest night of my life. It was incredible when you consider the tempo and everything about the match. I have never experienced a game at this level. It is all about team spirit. When you come to a club like Liverpool, with what they have won like the European Cup the season before and then the FA Cup, it is all about spirit. There is always a great team spirit anyway. But when you arrive and mix with these players, you know it is a family club. You come in and you are all together. Against a team like Barcelona everyone has to contribute and that is what has happened. Over two legs usually the best team goes through and we were the best team. Did we prove people wrong? It wasn't an issue, not many of the critics get it right anyway."

Rafa: "I am really proud of the players and the supporters. They were amazing. We always have the best supporters in the world and tonight they were almost perfect."

I was in the same bar I went to for the 1st leg, and the Liverpool fans there were still brilliant - even better this time. It felt like Kop End in Anfield! People were so together! In the end when they were hugging each other, singing You'll Never Walk Alone, I sat down and listened to them. I wanted to sing with them, but I just couldn't bring myself together. I have never heard something like that! It's hard to describe the feeling with words. I said to myself, it's not yet final, don't cry, not here! It's actually quite strange because I'm not even a Scouser, and I've just known Liverpool for less than 3 years!! I really have no answer of this, but one thing is for sure, I love to be with Reds. I love it! Players are talking about spirit in the team. I tell you what, there's also spirit between fans - an invisible power was there to bring us together. It's something more than just Merseypride - that can explain why someone like me can be moved so much. I believe it's this kind of spirit either between players or between fans, and plus the special relationship between players and fans that made Liverpool football club so successful in history.

BBC - Manchester United rode their luck to snatch a fortunate victory and take a giant stride towards the title with John O'Shea's injury-time winner - United lost Wayne Rooney through injury and saw Paul Scholes sent off late on for a clash with Xabi Alonso as Liverpool dominated for long spells. But substitute O'Shea pounced after Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina fumbled Cristiano Ronaldo's free-kick. Edwin van der Sar had earlier saved brilliantly from Peter Crouch.

Sorry about swearing...couldn't help it. How can we lose like that?? We were brilliant throughout the game!! Is it just another old story about our season - controlled everything, creating chances but couldn't put the ball in the net? Oh come on, we didn't deserve this - we were all over them! Tell me, how many times they shot on goal huh? God, I'm so gutted!!
Keep your heads up lads and fans! We'll fight back! I don't believe that if we keep playing like that, we end up nothing. Bring on Barca! We're still strong in Europe.

This Is Anfield - Tour

This Tuesday I took a trip to Liverpool again, and on Wednesday we joined the Museum & Stadium tours at Anfield. First of all, the dressing room is smaller than people thought, and the tour guide explained to us that it's Bill Shankly wanted it to be basic. And the order of the shirts hung up is according to players' positions, so that they can communicate better with the lads playing alongside them before the game. Fair enough. Walking out of dressing room, it came to where players being interviewed by the press. It's actually just two walls printed some logos of sponsors, not even a room. Next to it is the famous This Is Anfield sign leading the way to the pitch. Imagine that the lads lining up there, listening to the thousands of buzzing fans singing You'll Never Walk Alone, and then take a deep breath, touch the sign and go out there to have a fight! The guide said Bill Shankly worte in his book that any Liverpool players who didn't touch the sign when he went out, he wouldn't score at Anfield. This sign is not only for our players but also for our rivals. It won't be like 'Welcome To Anfield' to them, it says 'This Is Anfield'. Shame that I couldn't reach the sign or I defintely would take a picture of me touching it.

We headed to the ground and sat at where Rafa and other coach staff and subs sit watching the game. There's just a aisle between home and away teams, and not like other stadiums, we don't have roof on the seats. The guide showed us where the exexutive boxes is and that's also where injuried players would be seated - and where Harry Kewell has a season ticket. (lol This really made me laugh, I love that guide) After the stadium tour, the museum came next.

I've just watching Liverpool for less than 3 years, and before that I knew nothing about football. But I've been reading and learning those history about Liverpool football club, and Gerrard's book was very useful. The museum is also samller than I have expected, but I love the small room showing our Instanbul night clips. I sat there watching the Sky One programme 'One Night In May', though I've watched it many times before on YouTube, I still moved to tears in the end. The room was decorated with some famous banners that night, and surrounded by those you just couldn't help recalling that night and felt so proud and glad to be involved. Thought of how this made you on top of the world that day and how this made you believe, made you dream. People still talk about it, and I believe they will for years and years.

Photos of that tour were uploaded to my album as usual. Hope you enjoy it, for those who want but can't make it there. I won't take anything for granted, and I know how lucky I'm, honestly. I got too many people to thanks for. This time, big thanks to Thom who let us stay overnight at his sister's place and took us to the tour. I did enjoy the stay there!

The Guardian - Terry swallowed his tongue, stopped breathing and was left concussed after being accidentally kicked in the face by Abou Diaby during Chelsea's 2-1 Carling Cup triumph over Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium. His injury was so serious that players immediately summoned medical assistance from the bench and he was treated for five minutes before being carried off on a stretcher.

Yet Terry was fit enough to leave hospital a short time later and join in the celebrations after the game. "I just said to the lads I didn't remember," he revealed today. "I remember walking out for the second half and nothing else until waking up in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. I had the scan and they said it's OK. It was great to be back [with the lads], they were different class. I'm still feeling a bit groggy though. It's thanks to the lads as I didn't have much part to play in the second half. Big applause to the England and Chelsea captain. I really do think he's a brave man, and I was shocked to hear that he came back from hospital to celebrate with the lads! OMG, is he a cockroach or something that can recover so fast?? Amazing! Get well soon man! England and Chelsea need you!

BBC - Two first-half penalties from Robbie Fowler put Liverpool in total control. Steven Gerrard won both penalties after he was fouled first by Rob Kozluk and then by Nick Montgomery, with Fowler finishing each time with precision. After the break Sami Hyypia's low shot made it 3-0, before Gerrard added the fourth with a superb individual goal after he was set up by a Fowler pass.

Two good news - one is that Crouchy is fine, and Pepe is becoming Daddy!!! Great to hear that! I was just wondering why Deduk got strated today. Pepe - the Daddy!

Rafa: "Crouch has a broken nose and needed stitches but it's not serious, he's OK and I spoke to him after the game."
Liverpoolfc.tv - The Liverpool manager also revealed Pepe Reina wasn't involved because he had been up half of the previous night because his wife is expecting a baby.

Kuyt: "I think Robbie has shown us yet again that he's a legend. It's hard when you're not in the squad all the time, and not always playing, and yet he scored twice and also played really well. He's very important for the team, even when he's not on the pitch with us. It's unbelievable the way he finishes his penalties. He's still got a very cool head and is a very good player. I think Robbie is, like I said, just very important for the team. Even off the pitch he tries to help the younger people, like me when I first came here. That's really important."

So, here is my second time at Anfield. Well, to be really honest, I was a little bit disappointed. Apart from winning 4-0, which is great of course, the fans were actually less enthusiastic than last time I was there. They seemed lazy and quiet. When someone started a chant, I always expected people to follow, but they didn't this time, which was quite strange! Credits to Sheffield Utd's away fans, they were singing loudly throughout the game. Just once, people around me started to sing together and that was because Sheff Utd's fans were winding us up. They sat on the other side of Anfield Road stand and I don't know how and why, we got pissed off by them. So people turned to them, singing and shouting towards them. It was funny because at that point I didn't know what happen on the pitch for 1 or 2 minutes because I was so focused on what's going on between home and away fans!

On the train back, Sheffield Utd fans were still singing. They were having some laugh and you just can't help admirinig them. It was like they won the game! (But well, some of them had been drinking and maybe that's why)

After watching the replay, I have to say that I don't like the first penalty. I mean, the way Stevie earned it. It seemed like his eyes had never left the ref when he fell down, which I thought only the likes of cristiano Ronaldo would do. But on the other side, Crouchy was fouled, so it would be a penalty whatsoever. On the train back, a Sheff Utd fan sat next to me, and he was on the phone with his mate. At first I thought he's Liverpool fan because he was reading the match programme until he told his mate that the first two goals were penalties, and it's 'disgusted'. Then I made sure when he sang with other Sheff Utd fans on the train.

Thanks Drogballs to point out that it was Stevie's first goal since the New Year's Day against Bolton. Is it a coincidence that I happen to be at the Anfield both times? lol I want to tell you guys that I was lucky to get the tickets this time because it was sold out soon when it went on general sale. I got it before general sale because I'm the e-season ticket holder and I joined the ballot. It was actually just my second time trying the ballot! How lucky I was.

Next would be a big clash with Man U at home. It's impossible for me to get the tickets this time, never mention about the Champions League game against Barca. So hopefully I manage to get the Arsenal one on 31st March, and hopefully Stevie can score again in front of me! lol

BBC - Deco nodded Barca in front from Gianluca Zambrotta's precise cross. But Liverpool dug in and they levelled when Barca keeper Victor Valdes let Bellamy's header creep over the line. Barca poured men forward but the Reds took the lead when Bellamy teed up Riise to fire home and they held on to win despite seeing Deco hit the post.

Bellamy:"You couldn't make up what has happened tonight. I've not been reading the papers so I've not been too bothered what people say. All I wanted to do was make the most of the special atmosphere and the build up to the game. I've been reasonably lucky in football, playing for my country and other big clubs, but this is my best moment in the game."

"It was important at the final whistle that we didn't milk the victory. The dressing room was actually quite subdued afterwards. Well, as subdued as it can be after a win at the Nou Camp. This is a great result but it is only half-time. We've got to go back to Anfield for a completely different game, so as good a result as this is, there's still a long way to go. I take the rough with the smooth and to be honest I'm a bit gobsmacked tonight - coming here to the Nou Camp was something else. It's also my boy's 10th birthday today so it's just been really special. We wanted to hold them out for as long as possible but we knew it was going to be difficult. They are a top, top side and the reigning champions of Europe, but we've done a lot of work to prepare for this game and I think you could see that."

Rafa: "I didn't see Bellamy's celebration. I thought the keeper was going to catch the ball and I was thinking about what to do in the second half, so I didn't realise it was a goal at first. But I am really pleased with Craig and the team. Riise also scoring a goal was just a coincidence but you have got to be happy with that. I am really pleased that both scored and that they got the goals that mattered. The training camp in Portugal was really helpful for us. The commitment of the players was good before and after the problems, and even if that hadn't happened I'm sure we'd have done the same tonight because the atmosphere in the squad was really good."

Riise: "We knew we needed to enjoy it out there and believe in ourselves. To be fair we started the game very well. They scored but we knew that if we worked hard we would get a goal back. The boss has shown tonight that, tactically, he's one of the best around."

I was in a bar with some reds. They're brilliant, and on my way home, saw some other fans singing on the street. This, without doubt, was the best feeling I have ever had during my time in Newcastle.

"Liverpool's preparations for Wednesday's Champions League game at Barcelona have been overshadowed by drunken misbehaviour on the Algarve. Craig Bellamy is facing a heavy fine and an uncertain future after a night out allegedly concluded with the forward using a golf club to attack his team-mate John Arne Riise.
Riise, who seemingly sustained bruises to his legs, was able to train alongside Bellamy yesterday and may receive a lesser punishment. He could well be joined on the Anfield roll of shame by Jermaine Pennant, Jerzy Dudek and Robbie Fowler, who all face club sanctions after police intervention was required to quell that trio's alcohol-fuelled antics.
Rafael Benítez's squad flew to Portugal eight days ago for a training camp before the game at Camp Nou. After five days of training Benítez allowed his players to let their hair down on Thursday night at the Vale do Lobo resort, where they were staying, and is understood to be dismayed that a handful abused his trust. An internal club investigation is now under way but no conclusions are anticipated until the squad's return from Barcelona.
The dispute involving Bellamy and Riise seemingly started with a karaoke competition in the early hours of Friday morning, when Bellamy took offence at the Norwegian left-back's refusal to sing. Increasingly irritated by the Welshman's jibes, Riise reportedly became incandescent and, surrounded by fellow players, the pair squared up to each other, trading expletives. Although things calmed down as the group dispersed and headed for their rooms, Bellamy apparently felt he had lost face in front of his team-mates and, having armed himself with a golf club, tracked down Riise before allegedly swinging it at his legs. 2. Anybody who left the club ashamed should be punished. Especially Liverpool is a club has so much history and reputation.

Liverpool warm up before kick off at St.James Park. YES! I was that close to them!! For more photos, click here. A guy standed next to me shouted: 'Stevie!!!', and Stevie turned around and smiled at him for a second. OH MY GOD! I was that close so I saw his face! When I was at Old Trafford this Wed watching England vs Spain, Gerrard once came very close to kick a cornor, and I thought that was the closest I could be to him in my entire life. Just three days later, I was so lucky to be in that position to take photos and saw those players. I came to the ground really early, waiting them in such a bad weather - freezing, raining and windy. Water was all over my shoes when I took those pictures, shivering with my hands couldn't feel anything.

I was sitting with Newcastle fans because I couldn't get tickets for away fans. All the tickets are sold out within hours on general sale!! I was so proud of Liverpool fans. They started to sign from very begining of the game while Newcastle fans were still quiet at first, even when the official were introducing their players. Their fans have no passion, I thought. Before Newcastle pulled one back, Liverpool fans kept singing so loudly, and I've heard almost every Liverpool chants. From where I sat, many of Newcastle fans turned their heads to see Liverpool fans several times, as if thinking....Oh my God, how the hell many of them up there??? Every time I saw someone turned or photoed Liverpool fans, I felt so proud in my heart. Honestly.

I don't like watching away matches. Not only for the reason that I sat with Newcastle fans and I couldn't shout anything or celebrated Liverpool's goal, but also, you have to hear those sticks on your players. God, it's hard! When Carra slipped with no one or ball near him (though it's normal for such a bad condition pitch, and many other players slipped by the way), people around me were laughing so hard at Carra!! lol I know it's part of the game, but I DON'T LIKE IT!!

Newcastle fans are sly. They sing only when Liverpool fans start to sing. After their goal, they finally started to make some noises. I was so angry because every time I heard Liverpool fans started the chants, Newcastle fans tried to cover that because they got much more people in the stadium!! It's like 'Liverpool..Liverpool..Liverpool NEWCASTLE..NEWCASTLE..NEWCASTLE..NEWCASTLE...' You know, most football chants are same tunes, with different club names. Anyway, what a surprise that we didn't get any point. On the way out of St.James', listening to the happy Geordies singing, I was so disappointed and angry......and fucking freezing!!!

But Newcastle snatched the victory when Nolberto Solano scored with a penalty after Steven Taylor was fouled.

Rafa: "In the first half we should have been three or four nil up but we then conceded a stupid goal and a stupid penalty. It's difficult to explain how we got nothing from this match. We need to learn, when you create clear opportunities you need to take them and finish off the game. It's clear the conditions were not the best but I cannot complain about that because we dominated the first half. But we let them win the game in the second half."

Old Trafford, England Fans

So I was at this significant Old Trafford. It was a big international football night - England takes on Spain in a friendly at home. A night that Stevie firstly captained England, leading the lads walking out of the tunnel to the pitch. It's not anymore about playing for your childhood club is it. It's about a honour that you wouldn't think twice to take when given a chance to represent your country. Yes, you wouldn't think twice because it's a chance to become a national hero of millions. This kind of significance made the night special. Can you imagine how confident the fans were entering to the ground? All the singing, chanting, waving all kinds of flags and smiling on the faces, with England shirts, hats, scarfs...all those things on!

Before kick-off I sat there and felt like having such a big party! We expected nothing but a decent performance and glory. When the crowd started to make noises, it did, and it's like Old Trafford was actually shacking! When it quiets down, it's really quiet because the stadium is too big! But don't worry, crazy England fans are always behind you, shouting something loudly. Some of those just make you: 'Jesus! Wasn't that too much, mate?' Or something Spainish/English that you can't understand but definitely know it's a bad language toward a player. The man behind me almost lost his voice just 10 minutes after kick-off.

But no matter how hard we were shouting - 'Come on England! Come on! Get it! Shoot!!!' What happened on the pitch just went the opposite tonight. Even worse for me, Stevie was substituted at the half time. 'What the...?', I thought. We started the game well, didn't we. But in the end, it was a mess, and I didn't even know what we were playing at. England was lack of creativity. I won't say too much about tactics or comment on players because I'm not good at that, plus I was distracted sitting there and watching players in such a close distance.

However, all I want to say about the whole game is... England fans deserved more. It was freezing out there, and the fans have traveled from so far away. Come on, we paid but we're not coming here for this kind of performance! Of course you can say England is missing some major players like Terry, Rooney, Joe Cole, Ashely Cole.... We can lose, but not in this way. It's surely a disappointing day for England.

As for my first experience of international football....well, I'd say that I still prefer watching Liverpool. Simply because..with England fans, you won't hear 'Come on Stevie or Jamie!'. It would be like 'Come on Gerrard or Carragher!' And say, for example, if Lampard passes a ball to Wright-Phillips and he missed it, there would be sticks on Chelsea coming out from England fans. That's the difference. I love almost every Liverpool player, but in England, though I wish them to win, I still can't help hating...Lampard. And that made me feel a little uncomfortable sitting there, because I didn't know if it's right to shout 'Come on Stevie!' ....You know what I mean?

205th Merseyside Derby Ended Up Draw

BBC - Everton delivered an outstanding defensive display to earn a point against Liverpool at Anfield. - Liverpool dominated possession, with Craig Bellamy having an early goal ruled out for offside and Tim Howard saving well from Peter Crouch. But Everton had the best chance of the game after 59 minutes when Andrew Johnson shot straight at Pepe Reina as he looked certain to score. Crouch also wastefully shot straight at Howard as time ran out for Liverpool.

Alright, I'm not blaming them playing defensively. That's the only thing you can do playing a stronger team away! It's shame that we couldn't break their defense. It's rare to see players like Xabi and Kuyt getting pissed off in the game so much, but it just showed how much they wanted to win the derby though they are not even scousers. Stevie was a little over-excited, giving the ball away sometimes. Three strikers up front means little space for Stevie to go forward. And what a save for Reina! Oh dear, I would be sooooo gutted to see Andy Johnson scoring a goal against us again! Thank you so much Reina, you're the hero!

I also took a close look of Agger in this game. He was just brilliant! Calm, disciplined and went forward some time with decent long passes or strikes. And there was a brave tackle against..who? Andy Johnson or..whatever, turned out to be so important. He doesn't go down easily but once he does, it counts! Though I would still go for Jamie for his passion and the never-say-die attitude, Agger definitely has the quality to be on the top in the future!

Okay, next week will be the Toon! Liverpool would be so desperately to win to come to St.James Park! I'm waiting here for you lads! (Xabi will be suspended for 5 yellows. Erm....I'd better not to wear red shirt to go to St.James right? Especially I didn't get the seat for away fans...but a little scarf will be fine I reckon, huh?)
